Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is observed annually in the United States on the third Monday in January. The Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. was an American Baptist minister and played a major role in the Civil Rights Movement from 1954 until his assassination in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968.
